The ranges differ a lot because each agency counts different things, such as the number of pages, a store, booking and who writes the text. Page B also gives a longer timeline for stores (6 to 10 weeks), so compare scope and delivery time, not only the headline price. Yearly costs after launch, such as domain and hosting renewals, are where many owners get surprised, so ask about them before you agree.

What quotes often leave out
A low headline price can be perfectly fair for a simple site. The problems start when the extras appear later. Ask whether each of these is included:
- Domain name. A yearly fee. Ask whose name it is registered in. It should be yours.
- Hosting. Also a yearly fee, and it varies with the plan. Ask for the renewal price, not only the first-year price.
- GST. Added to most quotes.
- Photos and writing. If you have none, someone has to create them.
- Monthly SEO. Some agencies sell this separately after the build. Ask if it is needed and what it covers.
- Maintenance. Updates and backups. Ask who does them and what they cost.
None of these figures is the same across agencies, so we do not quote a number for domain and hosting here. Ask each agency for the exact amount and the renewal date.

Five things to get in writing before you pay
- The page count and the features. A list, not a phrase like “up to a few pages”.
- What you own. The domain registered in your name and a login to your own website.
- Yearly costs. Domain, hosting and any plugins, with the renewal price.
- The timeline and what you must supply. Published timelines on the two pages we read range from 1 week for a small site to 10 weeks for a store, and the delay is often waiting for photos and text.
- What is not promised. Be careful with anyone who promises first-page Google rankings or a set number of leads. Nobody can honestly do that, and we do not.
Is a very cheap quote a bad sign?
Not by itself. A simple site on a ready template can cost little and work well for a small shop that mainly needs an address, a phone number and a few photos. A very low price becomes a problem when the scope is vague, when the domain is registered in the agency’s name, or when basics such as a mobile-friendly layout and a contact button are missing. Use the five points above and compare quotes on what is in them, not on the headline number.
